Why Executive Leadership Referrals are So Treasured

“Referrals are the compound interest of your business—nurture every relationship, and watch growth multiply itself.”

VIM Executive Coaching has been blessed in that more than 70-percent of our new executive leadership clients are referrals. As the above quote so eloquently expresses, our referrals come as the result of nurturing relationships and watching our growth come about in an organic and reasonable sense.

Why do prospective clients trust referrals to our organization? Why do referrals work? We like the following quote by social media expert Seth Godin because it encapsulates so many things we want to represent:

"More than features, more than benefits, we are driven to become a member in good standing of the tribe. We want to be respected by those we aspire to connect with, we want to know what we ought to do to be part of that circle."  - Seth Godin

Our Style

Whether we are working with (nurturing) an individual client or several clients in a group setting, we do like to think of those we coach as wanting the common mindset of being more authentic and mindful.

One question we are frequently asked is if a concept like authenticity can be taught to “many” at a time rather than “one.” Of course. In fact, there are advantages to working together as a team to become better executive leaders. As Godin’s quote implies, most in a group want to “become a member in good standing of the tribe,” there is a desire to be a vital part of a circle.

We view excellence in executive leadership as striving to achieve greater connection with one another and from that point, to be more connected to the company and ultimately to customers no matter how they are defined. In taking this path toward excellence

We have found that through true connection, creating an authentic circle, leads to a powerful dynamic. Our style is a nurturing style and our goal is not to develop a boring “group think,” rather to develop a spirit of respect and bringing together many voices to work for the greater good.

We recognize that no two team members are ‘exactly alike and mindfulness training should appreciate that fact. Unfortunately, leadership is often taught as a straightforward exercise in conformity. Why should every member of a team think, talk and echo a particular book, podcast, speaker? Far better, the goal should be to work together to achieve a common solution that benefits everyone.

More than features or benefits as the quote implies (or bells and whistles if you prefer that term!), the goal of executive leadership training should be to bring diversity of opinion to a common outcome. It can be a powerful tool.

Therefore, our style, is not to create an organization of cookie-cutter thinkers but mindful people who genuinely, ardently care for their mission. VIM Executive Coaching is so frequently referred not because we want everyone to think and act alike, but to want to experience achievements for the organization.

Great executive leaders tend to value and nurture those around them. Great executive leaders understand subordinates need not be their clones or copies, but to want to advance the company. Leadership should compound itself and “the interest” should always be to make everyone better.

To us, no outcome of a referral is more important than seeing an organization we’ve coached to succeed.
